From paper to the palm of the hand

A food manufacturing facility was still using paper and some excel for the planning, ordering, and fulfillment process. This process was effective, but error-prone because much of the information was calculated by hand and entered by hand. In addition, because most of the vital information was contained on a few pieces of paper, there was no real time remote access to the data and there was always a chance one of the papers could be lost.

Using off the shelf software, we helped this client design and build a cost effective software solution that allowed the data to be entered only one time and then be available in real time from a computer or smartphone. That means all key stakeholders had access to data in real time, not just the person holding the piece of paper. In addition, because the information was now digital, we could automatically perform calculations to plan and estimate production more accurately and without the time it took every day for a trained manager to do the calculations.
